Dr Simon Holloway has a PhD in Classical Hebrew and an MA in Ancient History. He served for six years as an Education Officer at the Sydney Jewish Museum and as a sessional academic at the University of Sydney. At present, he serves as the Head of Education at the Melbourne Holocaust Museum, where he is currently overseeing a transition into a new state-of-the-art museum and the release of a suite of new educational programs.

In a workshop setting we will explore how generational trauma or negative experiences of our ancestors influence us today. The platform for our exploration is going to be based on the method called family constellation. Family constellation is a type of therapy based on the idea that problems sift down through generations to cause stress in the here and now. Even if you don't know the traumas of your parents and earlier ancestors, you can learn them through the morphogenic field of energy that surrounds your family. You can choose to become an active participant and present your case or just witness the process. This issue is particularly relevant for the children and grandchildren of Holocaust survivors, and is increasingly a topic of scientific study. All Russian-speaking Jews are the descendants of those who survived the Holocaust; the Australian Jewish community has a particularly high percentage of second and third generation of survivors. How does that affect us today?

Julia is influenced by both Western and Oriental artistic methods, but she finds inspiration in nature itself, which she translates onto canvas into organic lines and fluid forms, and fantastical colour combinations. She claims these are a reflection of our subconscious mind and its connection to nature. In her words: "Art is a form of thought fostered by intuition."
Several collections of her works have been combined by Julia into captivating and hypnotic slideshows. Some of these slideshows will be presented at Limmud Festival 2022. Julia's works have been exhibited at various galleries around Australia and abroad

The 1990s saw an enormous amount of political change. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, fifteen different member states achieved independent existence, and opportunities for Western historians to negotiate access to local archives began to present themselves. With this increase in information, the state of research on the Holocaust grew exponentially. In this session, we will explore just what changed for historians once they gained access to archives in the former Soviet Union. What was in those archives that revolutionised the study of the Holocaust, and what do we know today that historians did not know before?

Yelena is a Russian Israeli pianist and music theorist who arrived 3 months ago from Israel, where she lived for over 30 years. She holds a Masters's in Music history and theory and worked as a lecturer and a pianist in various places in Israel, teaching music, Ballet Pianist, running musical entertainment activities on various occasions, playing for the elderly and doing occupational therapy with music. Since arriving in Melbourne, she has played in a choir and runs musical hours in some cultural centres.

Sebastian has been the ZFA Birthright Australia Director since 2019, where he is responsible for overseeing and coordinate all the aspects of the program. He's always been passionate about the Jewish community (both locally and globally), has been part of the Taglit-Birthright Israel family for almost 15 years in different roles. In 2007 as a participant and in 2014 as a group leader, guiding 40 young Jews in their Birthright experience.

Lea is certified Yin and Laughter Yoga Instructor. Lea specializes in teaching someone who would not normally attend mainstream yoga classes. Since 2018 Lea conducts workshops and classes at Age care facilities, Yoga studios, universities, and colleges. Lea teaches at wellness retreats and festivals. Lea has extensive knowledge about energy healing using breathing and gentle body movements.

Gevatron - is an Israeli folk music group started in the early days of Israel in the Kibbutzim and is still active today. Yelena will be running a musical presentation, playing the piano and telling some anecdotes in between about this Israeli music with Russian roots.

In this dynamic workshop you will learn simple restorative body movements that can be used in everyday life. There will be elements of Tai Chi, Qigong, dancing, energy healing, vocal exercises, active and sensory meditations. Rabbi Shapiro holds a unique, heartfelt connection to the Melbourne Jewish community from the former Soviet Union and has been its spiritual leader for over 25 years. Rabbi Shapiro commenced his Rabbinical studies in Moscow, continued formal Torah education in the US and Australia and received his Rabbinical ordination in 1995. From 1996 until 2011, Rabbi Shapiro worked with the Russian Jewish community at Friends of Refugees of Eastern Europe. In 2011 Rabbi Shapiro followed his passion for supporting people in the most challenging situations, receiving advanced Spiritual Care at Alfred Hospital and becoming the Jewish Chaplain in the Victorian Healthcare system.
Rabbi Shapiro is a certified Rabbinical Counsellor by Monash University and specializes in community counselling and spiritual guidance and conducts services in Russian and English. Rabbi Shapiro is the Rabbi of the Souper Shule in Caulfield North.

For most of her life, Keren Gengut Mushinski lived in the Israeli south, in a small town called Gan Yavne. Once completed compulsory army service, she continued to university to study Political Science and Journalism. A few years passed by and she found herself on a new adventure. Together with her husband and a beautiful baby girl, they moved to Australia. It was also the right time to get back to university. Upon completion of the Masters of Teaching at Deakin University, Keren began working at The King David School. A school that soon became her second home.

David Reznik started his Krav Maga journey at the age of 13 under the now Grand Master Mr Avi Abeceedon; Dan 10, Head and Chairman of the Kami Association (Wingate Academy) and former Head instructor for the Israeli Naval special forces. After his time in the IDF as a combat medic in the Navy's divers unit, David went to pursue his career as a paramedic in Australia. The best challah baker in Melbourne, according to her nine kids and many friends, Nechama puts all her soul into community life, helping others and volunteering.

For years, together with her husband, Rabbi Boruch Shapiro, Nechama ran successful events for members of the Russian-speaking community loved by all. To this day, each Friday, Nechama bakes the most delicious challot and spends time delivering them all over Melbourne to make Shabbos extra special to those who need it most.

I am a student at Cheltenham Secondary College. I have developed interesting puzzles for children that focus on problem solving skills. These puzzles will challenge your mind to think outside the box. I enjoy problem solving myself and am glad to share that enthusiasm with others.
